Notes on the Use, Care, and Safety of Your Interior Timepiece
Important Handling Note
Whenever possible, touch your watch only with the supplied gloves. Alternatively, clean, soft gloves or a clean microfiber cloth are suitable. This applies equally to cases, glass surfaces, and display elements. Fingerprints are particularly visible on high-gloss and reflective surfaces. Careful handling saves unnecessary cleaning.
Avoid direct contact with bare hands, especially on gold-plated surfaces. Fingerprints and hand sweat can leave stains. If contact does occur, promptly and gently remove residues with a clean, soft microfiber cloth without applying strong pressure.
Existing stains can be carefully removed with a gold cleaning cloth suitable for gold-plated surfaces if necessary. Apply only light pressure and follow the manufacturer's instructions. Avoid frequent or vigorous polishing, as this can wear away the gold plating.
Materials and Surfaces
Our Interior Timepieces are made from high-quality materials: display elements, frames, and cases are made of aluminum and are refined and protected by high-quality coatings such as gold, chrome, or anodizing. Depending on the model, carbon/CFK, scratch-resistant aluminosilicate glass, as well as decorative spheres and gemstones like zirconia or moissanite are also used.
To ensure your watch remains in perfect condition, please follow the instructions below as well as the model-specific user manual.
1. Cleaning Mode in the App
Your watch features a special cleaning mode that you can conveniently activate in the CENTENARIO Home App. After activation, the display elements automatically move to the 12:00 position.
Wait until the movement is completely finished. Then you can carefully remove the designated removable display elements according to the user manual and clean both the dial and the display elements. Whenever possible, use the supplied gloves.
Once cleaning is complete, reattach the display elements according to the user manual and deactivate the cleaning mode in the app. The display elements will then automatically move to the correct time, and normal operation will resume.
2. Cleaning the Glass
First, carefully remove loose dust with a clean, soft brush. Then gently wipe the glass surface with a clean microfiber cloth and a suitable glass cleaner to remove fingerprints and deposits.
Preferably use the included glass cleaner. Other glass cleaners should only be used if they are suitable for the respective glass surface or its coating.
Apply the cleaner to the cloth and do not spray it directly onto the watch. Avoid letting liquid get into openings, onto electrical contacts, or between components. Wipe the cleaned surface dry and residue-free afterward.
Do not use abrasives, rough sponges, or dirty cloths. Even scratch-resistant glass is not completely immune to scratches.
3. Care of Metal Surfaces
Anodized, gold-plated, and chrome-plated aluminum surfaces should only be gently wiped with a clean, dry, and soft microfiber cloth in everyday use.
Do not use aggressive or abrasive cleaning agents, rough sponges, or dirty cloths and do not apply strong pressure. For gold-plated surfaces, also follow the handling and occasional stain removal instructions at the beginning of these care instructions.
4. Care of Spheres and Gemstones
The spheres and gemstones are carefully crafted and delicate. Clean them gently with a soft, dry brush or a clean, soft microfiber cloth.
Do not apply pressure to stones or their settings. Avoid vigorous rubbing, pulling, or twisting. Do not immerse the display elements in water or cleaning fluids.
5. Care of Carbon and CFK Surfaces
Carefully remove dust and fingerprints with a clean, soft microfiber cloth. If necessary, the cloth can be slightly moistened with water. Wipe dry afterward.
Do not use abrasive agents, solvents, or polishes that are not expressly suitable for the respective surface coating.
6. Clean Dial and Smooth Movement
A clean, residue-free dial supports the smooth movement of the display elements. Dust, fingerprints, or residues from cleaning agents can alter friction conditions and promote slight starting or friction noises.
So-called stick-slip effects can occur, where brief sticking and sliding alternate. Therefore, regularly clean the dial and ensure that no streaks or residues remain after cleaning.
Do not use oils, fats, or other lubricants on the dial or display elements. If unusual noises or movement disturbances persist despite proper cleaning, contact our support.
7. Maintenance Interval
Regularly check your watch for dust and visible deposits. A gentle cleaning about once a month serves as a guideline. Depending on location, dust exposure, and usage, more frequent or less frequent cleaning may be advisable.
Remove fingerprints and other residues as soon as possible, especially on gold-plated surfaces. Avoid unnecessary or excessive polishing.
8. Suitable Location and Operating Conditions
Your CENTENARIO Interior Timepiece is intended for operation in dry, clean living areas and comparable indoor spaces.
The materials and surfaces used are UV-stabilized. Nevertheless, you should avoid direct and prolonged sunlight exposure to maintain color intensity and appearance in the long term. UV stabilization does not prevent all changes due to permanent sun exposure.
Choose a location without increased risk of contamination. Workshops, grinding and production areas, as well as rooms with increased exposure to grinding dust, fine dust, or other deposits, are not suitable. Such contaminants can affect surfaces, drives, and the movement of the display elements.
The operating temperature ranges from −10 °C to +40 °C. Avoid mounting directly next to radiators, fireplaces, or other heat sources. The temperature directly at the watch can be significantly higher than the general room temperature due to sunlight or heat sources.
Outside the intended temperature range, different thermal expansions of mechanical components can lead to tensions, changes in fits, and functional disturbances. Also, avoid strong temperature fluctuations and condensation. Allow a watch brought in from a cold environment to acclimate to room temperature before operation and ensure it is dry.
Damage caused by an unsuitable location or operation outside these conditions is excluded from the voluntary manufacturer's warranty. Legal warranty rights remain unaffected.
9. Safety Note: Display Elements Are Not Toys
OUR DISPLAY ELEMENTS ARE NOT TOYS!
Keep removable spheres, gemstones, and other small parts out of the reach of children, especially toddlers. There is a risk of swallowing and choking.
Do not leave removed display elements unattended during cleaning. Store them safely and reattach them according to the user manual afterward.
Choose the mounting height so that children cannot reach the watch and its removable parts. The display elements must not be used for playing.
10. Electrical Contacts on the Watch and Wall Mount
Check the electrical contacts on the watch and wall mount when you remove the watch anyway, for example, for a glass change or cleaning. An additional regular removal for contact inspection is not required.
An inspection is also advisable if the watch remains without power supply or if it is repeatedly interrupted.
Disconnect the watch completely from the power supply before any inspection or cleaning by unplugging the power adapter from the socket. Then carefully remove the watch from the wall mount according to the user manual.
Check the accessible contacts on the watch and wall mount for dust, dirt, discoloration, corrosion, or damage.
Clean the contacts only if visibly dirty dry and carefully with a clean, soft, lint-free cloth or a soft brush. Do not use liquids, glass cleaners, contact sprays, abrasives, or metallic tools. Do not bend the contacts and do not apply strong pressure to the spring-loaded contact pins.
Do not put the watch back into operation in case of corrosion or damaged contacts. Do not attempt to sand or repair the contacts yourself. Contact support@centenariodesign.de in case of such issues or persistent functional disturbances.
Only place the watch back on the wall mount when the contacts are clean, dry, and undamaged. Restore the power supply only after the watch is correctly inserted.
11. Maintenance and Support
Do not open the case independently and do not make any interventions on drives, electronics, or electrical contacts. Work on these components should only be carried out by CENTENARIO or appropriately authorized professionals.

12. Proper Use and Improper Use
Your CENTENARIO Interior Timepiece is a precision object for time display and room design. Use the watch exclusively according to the user manual and under the specified operating conditions.
Particularly to be avoided are:
-
Holding, blocking, or forcibly moving the movable display elements during operation.
-
Attaching additional objects or weights to spheres, display elements, glass, or case.
-
Using non-designated display elements, accessories, or unsuitable power supplies.
-
Unauthorized modifications to mechanics, electronics, contacts, or wall mounting.
-
Applying oils, fats, adhesives, or other non-designated substances.
-
Operating the watch with visible damage or despite existing functional disturbances.
Removing and reinserting designated components for cleaning or glass replacement is, of course, permissible when performed according to the user manual.
Damage caused by improper use or unauthorized modifications is excluded from the voluntary manufacturer's warranty. Your legal warranty rights remain unaffected.
13. Secure Wall Mounting
The wall and the fastening materials used must be suitable for the weight of your respective watch. Use only the designated CENTENARIO wall mount and screws and dowels suitable for the wall substrate.
If unsure about the wall's load-bearing capacity or the fastening, have the installation carried out by a professional. After each placement, check that the watch is fully and securely seated in the wall mount according to the installation instructions before letting go.
14. Safe Removal and Glass Replacement
Never lift or carry the watch by the display elements, the spinner, or other decorative components. Hold the watch only at the points specified in the user manual.
Perform removal, placement, and glass replacement according to the user manual, with a second person if necessary. Place removed components on a clean, soft, and stable surface. Avoid pressure on glass surfaces, edges, and fastenings.
15. Behavior in Case of Damage
Do not continue to operate the watch if the glass is damaged, the wall mount is loosened, wires are damaged, or unusual heat development occurs. Disconnect the power supply if it is safe to do so and contact support@centenariodesign.de.
Damaged glass surfaces can cause injuries. Do not attempt to repair cracks, chips, or loosened components yourself.
Note
Regular, material-appropriate care helps to maintain the function and appearance of your Interior Timepiece in the long term. Always also observe the model-specific information in the user manual.
